- October 16: Start of the 18-day voting period through election day. Ballots are mailed, and accessible voting units are available at voting centers.
- October 26: Online and mail registrations must be received. The page says this is 8 days before election day. A person may also register in person during business hours and any time before 8:00 p.m. on election day.
- November 3: Deadline for voter registration or updates in person only. General election. Deposit a ballot in an official drop box by 8 p.m.

From the West Virginia Secretary of State 2026 election calendar.
- October 13, 2026: Voter registration deadline. The calendar says registration closes 21 days before the election, or the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday. An electronic application must be received no later than 11:59 p.m.
- October 21 through October 31, 2026: Early voting in person. The calendar says early voting is also available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the last two Saturdays before the general election.
- October 28, 2026: Deadline for a county clerk to receive an absentee-by-mail application. The calendar says this is the 6th day before the election.
- November 2, 2026: Deadline to hand-deliver absentee ballots to the county clerk. No person may personally deliver more than two absentee ballots.
- November 3, 2026: General election. Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.

- October 14, 2026: Deadline to register by mail or online for the general election. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. After this date, a person must register in person at the municipal clerk's office or at the polling place.
- October 20, 2026: Clerks may begin to issue in-person absentee ballots at the clerk's office or a designated alternate location. The calendar says this is no earlier than 14 days before the election.
- October 29, 2026, 5:00 p.m.: Deadline for regular and overseas electors to request absentee ballots by mail, online, email, or fax.
- October 30, 2026, 5:00 p.m.: Deadline to register in the municipal clerk's office or another designated location.
- November 1, 2026: Last day for most electors to apply in person for an absentee ballot. The calendar says the municipality sets the final time, and in-person absentee voting can end before this date.
- Tuesday, November 3, 2026: General election. The event page lists the time as 7:00 a.m. The calendar cites the Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
